Q: Why should I work with MTG Imports?

A: A company that is inexperienced in offshore manufacturing might think that going directly to a Chinese manufacturer would result in a lower price than that which they could get through working with MTG Imports. Many of our best customers have tried going direct in the past. The following obstacles are just some of the stumbling blocks that these companies have faced which ultimately have brought them to us.

The Language Barrier is a powerful impediment. Some factories will have an English-speaking representative, however, you'll find that their language fluency will vary widely. In addition, many technical concepts, material names, etc. are not easily translated. MTG Imports employs an experienced technical staff completely fluent in all languages and regional dialects where we work to insure that all specifications are understood and observed.

The Time Zone Difference. There is a large time difference between China and the United States. Vital manufacturing questions and concerns are handled quickly by MTG Imports staff working around-the-clock. North American companies working directly with China firms, on the other hand, will often find their questions delayed for at least 24 hours. Finding the Right Factory at the Lowest Price. Unlike the U.S. and Canada, China has no reliable Thompson Directory.

Finding a factory to make your custom product is often a time-wasting and futile endeavor. Even if you think you've found the perfect manufacturing source for your product, you'll need to visit the factory at least a few times to confirm their capabilities, monitor sample production, and inspect the finished product. The resulting expense in time and money is prohibitive for most companies.

Even if you went through all of the hassle, expense, and frustration of working directly with an Asian manufacturer, you probably would still not be receiving the lowest price. Why? Because MTG Imports has long-standing relationships with the factories that we represent, many of which consider us one of their top customers. MTG Imports can obtain the lowest pricing because our manufacturing partners quote based on our total product volume, not solely on your individual job. Additionally, our inside pricing knowledge together with our policy of quoting each bid from at least three of our factories, insures that you will get the absolute lowest price available. Most important is perhaps the “relationship factor.” Our manufacturing partners know us and trust us--a factor that cannot be overestimated when working with relationship-oriented cultures like China. Once you factor in on top of that the amount of time and money that you will be saving by not having to cultivate and maintain the relationship, which is necessary to do business with a factory in China, the savings are substantially greater.

Legal Responsibility and Accountability. When you work with MTG Imports you're working with a company bound by the laws of the U.S. court system. In addition, through our relationships with our factories, we can protect your proprietary products and information which will only be used as your company directs. When working directly with China, you'll encounter a confusing array of foreign laws that will intimidate all but the most knowledgeable experts in Chinese corporate law.

Q: Is there a minimum purchase quantity?

A: While we do not have a minimum per se, we prefer to work on accounts that represent at least $25,000 in annual revenue. Because the time and money spent on the process to get an account up and running takes nearly the same as one that could be worth up to $500,000, it generally does not make practical business sense for either side to invest in an account with revenues less than $25,000

Q: What are the payment terms?

A: As is commonplace with all factories in China, the terms are 30% deposit with an order once sample is approved, with the remaining 70% due prior to the goods leaving China. We also offer LC at site for those that would prefer this payment method.

Q: How can I be sure of your product quality?

A: When working with MTG Imports you can rest assured that your product will always meet your specifications every time. At MTG Imports, we understand that delivering a low price alone is not enough for our customers; 100% quality assurance is an important requirement as well.

Prior to selecting a factory to become an MTG Imports manufacturing partner of ours, they go through a complete auditing process. Each of the 12 metal factories that we represent holds an ISO, QS, or TS certification.

We hold each one of our factories to stringent quality requirements, which include continual inspections for every facet of their operations.

Q: How do I get started?

A: Select one of your high-volume, labor-intensive parts for quotation. For maximum savings use a part that is presently produced domestically. Make sure you have a good handle on the complete cost of the item to be quoted. Remember to add in shipping & handling costs if the part is currently outsourced, or consult an accurate time-study report if the piece is produced in-house.

We will need detailed drawings of your products. Metric measurements are preferred, but we also frequently work with English units.

Include your annual usage, present product pricing, target price, and anticipated award date. The more accurate your information, the better equipped MTG Imports is to negotiate the lowest price possible for you. Remember we're working directly for you as your company representative overseas, and we hope to do so for a long time to come. Our price quotations are designed to foster long-term relationships with each and every one of our customer-partners.

Finally, contact your MTG Imports representative to get started right away. We will turn around your RFQ within 7 days.
